Web 2.0 software development – INMYVAULT™ Case Study
Millions of people are actively tracing their ancestry, making it the number one
hobby worldwide. This was the inspiration behind a unique new website that starts
with genealogy but extends the concept to its furthest limits. Using the latest
Web 2.0 technologies, web application development, and internet business logic,
the site sparkles with lively interaction positively encouraging its users to exploit
its abilities.
Web 2.0 applications and the development of INMYVAULT™
INMYVAULT™
is a bespoke website development that allows all data, including photos, journals
and documents to be registered from the user’s date of birth and forward into the
future through its unique diary system which is the focal point of the Vault system.
Easy to navigate, and using
Web 2.0 technology, the system allows users to create their own profile.
This enables users to navigate back to their date of birth and into the future,
create a work history, family tree, upload photos, videos and journals.
Users can also securely store their most secret thoughts or revelations in a separate
inner vault protected by a special PIN number.
Their special records can be shared with nominated guests.
London-based INMYVAULT™ has all the virtues
of a social networking site with a purpose. Events and pictures can be shared in
real time with chosen recipients, then stored securely for the future. Treasured
documents and messages can be transferred instantly to safe keeping.
With its complex functionality INMYVAULT™
is one of the Web 2.0 projects which form an essential part of the SynergiDesign website portfolio. The site utilises a
SQL Server database, features
a diary section, document storage and online CVs which can be viewed on the site
by prospective employers with the user’s permission. Payment is made through a secure
online payment system.
Gail Walker, the entrepreneur whose idea launched INMYVAULT™,
had a first unsuccessful attempt working with another web design company that she
originally employed. Searching the internet, she found SynergiDesign through
their position on page 1 of Google and was impressed by the quality of their website and their portfolio. SynergiDesign were able to translate Gail’s
business dream into reality through their expertise in Web 2.0 technology and experience
of developing complex, interactive websites.
However, the complex website development is not the only aspect of this brand new,
London based business concept carried out by SynergiDesign. Banner ads to frame
the main pages were designed to reinforce the company branding and promotional emails created to complete the online corporate identity
package.
Ecommerce integration with Worldpay ecommerce payment gateway
All payments (for events) are processed by Worldpay a third party payment processing
centre. The E-commerce part
of the site has been seamlessly integrated with the Worldpay system with appropriate
information transferring to and from the ecommerce payment gateway.
The Database Development
The SQL Server database was designed to conform to good Relational Database Management
Techniques.
